Chinatown Story Analysis

The story is being told by itself, but it revolves around Jake Gittes and his investigation of the murder of Mr. Mulrey. It is often the detectives who tell these kinds of story or help the flow of the story. We supply the emotion of mystery and suspense. We provide the info of the solving of the mystery once we see certain characters emotions and actions that give hints. The story flows chronologically and is realistic. The genre is mystery/suspense and is in the Film Noir phase of the genre's evolution. The movie says that they had exaggerated and unrealistic acting in intense situations due to the transition from theater. It also says that there was a severe drought at the time. It embodies the universal human trait of how anger, hatred, and/or instability can lead to bad judgment, such as how Mr. Cross murdered Mr. Mulrey or how Mrs. Mulrey shot Mr. Cross.
