Film Noir Treatment

The Alley Way- Tentative Title

I. by: Mitchell Berry(the killer), Miles Chorro (the boyfriend), Jonathan Blakeslee, Jenna Fontaine (the girlfriend)

II. Genre: Thriller, Film Noir, Murder Mystery

III. Log Line: A woman witnesses the murder of her boyfriend, and two days later, she notices that he's hunting her down.

IV. General Flow
Ext. -Street - avoid suburban (alleyways)
A couple are walking down a dark, lifeless alleyway by their house. Once they reach the curb to cross the street, a man jumps out of the shadows and randomly mugs and stabs the boyfriend. The girl flees the scene screaming. The man turns around and stares at her as she runs away. The girl walks briskly home.
Int. - House
The girl walks inside. She sits down and finds a picture of her boyfriend in a drawer. She decides that instead of letting it go, she would hunt the killer down. She looks outside to find a man in a car looking through binoculars into her house. Afraid, she shuts the blinds quickly. When she peeks back outside, the car is still there, but the man is gone.
Ext. - Street
Warily, she goes outside and looks into the car. There is a piece of paper with her address on the dashboard, and next to that, a picture of her. She tries to open the car and finds that it is unlocked. She takes her picture and her address and runs inside.
Int. - House
She notices that the picture was taken yesterday from inside the house. Realizing that this man
was inside her house, s
he locks everything and looks outside again. The car is gone, so she feels a sense of relief. She tries to call the police, but the power goes out. She turns to see a shadow creep across the floor. She hears a knock and tentatively opens the front door. A man in dark clothes (the killer) turns around and walks inside, smiling. The girl screams, shuts the door, and runs upstairs. She hurries into a closet, and locks the door. The killer picks the lock and, just as he opens the door and knocks her out, her boyfriend comes up behind him and slams his head into the wall. The girl's eyes are just closing as he arrives.
Int .- House
The girl wakes up and can't believe her boyfriend is alive. She says thank you. He says no problem. She asks what happened to him, and he says he was rushed to the ER by a witness. She asks what happened to the killer and he says he took care of him. Exhausted, she sits down, looks at the picture of her boyfriend, and starts to fall asleep.
Int. - Basement
The girl wakes up from a dream and opens her eyes to stare at a picture of her boyfriend. She asks,"What happened?" The killer faces her and says,"You fell asleep." She asks what he wants with her, and he answers that he doesn't want her to tell anyone anything about what she saw. "I can't risk that," he says as he puts a gun to her head. "Good Night."

Film Noir Characteristics: Paranoia-schizophrenia-dream- soft edges- surreal when going out of dream
High contrast lighting-shadows, and fast fall-off
Expressionistic sets- picture in the drawer and camera in the plant show the connection and bring the feeling of revenge, object transition to reality
Entrapment- trapped in the basement- spotlight on her, close-ups, POV
